  • When his spider-sense tingles, Spidey realizes that the rooftop gizmo is some kind of spy-lens and that he has unmasked himself in front of it. He covers the lens with webbing and nearly destroys it until he sees “Property of the NY Police Department” written on it. Desperate in case someone saw him unmasked, Spidey visits Curt Connors, using his lab to create a perfect Peter Parker mask. At the Bugle, Jameson’s Slayer controls explode. Smythe, meanwhile, meets with the four top gang leaders of New York and shows them how the scanners can be used to keep one jump ahead of the police. Demonstrating, he again finds Spider-Man, apparently unmasked. But Spidey, aware of the watchers through his spider-sense, removes a Peter Parker mask, revealing his Spidey mask underneath and Smythe and the gangsters think he is playing with them, aware of the spy-eyes all along. Undaunted, Smythe unveils another spider-shaped Slayer, twice as big as the previous one. At the Daily Bugle, another protest forms, this one led by Jonah Jameson against the video-scanners. At home, Pete talks to Harry about his continued obsession with Mary Jane who comes over with pizza and partygoers but makes a play for Pete. Later, Peter dates Gwen. Worried about Flash, she drags Peter to visit him but a nervous Flash won’t tell them what’s wrong. After his date, Spidey swings through the city but is caught in a giant web, then sprayed with ethyl chloride gas. The new Slayer climbs down to meet him. Spidey gloats that he can defeat any remote-controlled robot. Smythe emerges, revealing that this time he is along for the ride.
