Spider-Man quickly defeats Hammerhead’s men but nearly breaks his fist on Hammerhead’s head. Ock awakens, defl ecting Hammerhead’s gunshot so it grazes Spidey’s skull, knocking him out, then escapes. Spidey awakens in Hammerhead’s HQ, and turns down an offer to join the gang. When Hammerhead learns that Ock has returned to his Westchester estate, joining “some old broad”, Spidey realizes that is Aunt May and plants a spider-tracer on the departing Hammerhead, then escapes and hitches a ride on the car roof as Hammerhead rides to Ock’s place. At the estate, Spidey slips away and breaks in only to be hit on the head with a vase by Aunt May who fears she has killed, “That awful Spider-Man.”
May leaves note for Peter & disappears. Unidentified wounded gunman found by Dr. Jonas Harrow who rebuilds his damaged cranium with experimental techniques. Gunman later only remembers Al Capone movie poster and becomes 1920s style gangster, Hammerhead.
