Molten Man attacks the hospital looking for Ned Leeds, distracting an intern from helping Peter and discovering his secret. Struggling to his feet, Peter becomes Spidey and intercepts Raxton. However, police on scene try to arrest Spidey, allowing Raxton to escape. After checking on a recovering Ned, Peter looks in on Liz at Mary Jane’s, then gets a Daily Bugle assignment to look into a warehouse isotope robbery. Deducing that Raxton is trying to recreate the alloy that made him Molten Man, Spidey goes to the Science Museum, discovering Raxton stealing his last component, an organic meteor. Spidey prevents the theft but Molten Man escapes onto the subway wearing his asbestos Raxton mask, which melts as his body gets consumed by its own heat. Spidey pulls Raxton onto a bridge and offers to help but the maddened Molten Man attacks, forcing Spidey to defend himself by webbing Raxton’s bag of isotopes and tossing it off the bridge. Raxton jumps after it and disappears in a mass of steam in the river below.
