  • Peter Parker takes the day off on a dayliner with Liz Allan, MJ, and Flash Thompson. However, the Tarantula and his men hijack the ship for a million-dollar ransom, which the mayor wants the Daily Bugle to pay. Peter changes into Spidey, but is forced to abandon the ship to save a sailor from drowning. Out of webbing, Spidey returns to his apartment to reload, where Harry Osborn sees him leaving, confirming his growing suspicions. On the ship, Flash tries to take down Tarantula’s men, but is easily thwarted. Spidey returns via Police helicopter. In the ensuing battle, Hidalgo distracts Spidey, allowing Tarantula to pierce him with a drug-tipped boot spike. His fi nal punch knocks Tarantula down but a groggy Spidey soon finds himself looking down the barrel of the Punisher’s gun.

Peter recalls Dr. Octopus’ near marriage to Aunt May, Ock and Hammerhead’s supposed deaths, May’s shattered reaction, Molten Man’s recent rampage & Liz Allan’s return.

Tarantula’s name revealed in ASM #135, ’74. Although Hidalgo & Juan are revealed as from Delvadia in DD #75, ’71, Tarantula’s nationality is not confirmed.
