Peter nearly cracks over seeing his dead girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, standing in his apartment. Gwen, just as confused, tries to talk to him but Peter, certain she’s an imposter, angrily pushes her away. He rushes off to the hospital to see Aunt May who awakens from heavy sedation when he sits by her side. Elsewhere, Mac Gargan, the Scorpion, is released from prison and soon back in costume, robbing a bank. Peter awakens from a nightmare about Gwen’s death to hear a report of Scorpion’s robbery. He heads out to bring Scorpion in but Scorpion finds him first and attacks. The fight ends up at a cement plant where Spidey falls into a vat. The Scorpion leaves him for dead. Saving himself, Peter returns to the hospital where he finds Betty, Ned, Robbie, and MJ with Gwen. Ned informs him that Gwen’s fingerprints match the original and yet her grave remains undisturbed. There are two Gwen Stacys, and one is very much alive.
