Spider-Man dumps the Spider-Clone’s body in a Brooklyn Incinerating plant’s smokestack. He senses someone spying but ignores the feeling. The next day at ESU, Peter, MJ, and Flash are surprised to see Harry Osborn released from the institution and back at school. Peter wonders if Harry is actually cured. That night, they all go to J. Jonah Jameson’s penthouse party for Betty and Ned’s engagement, which is interrupted by a power failure. Hearing a radio announcement of systematic outages, Peter hitches a ride on a police helicopter, changing to Spidey in mid-air, and sees the blacked-out buildings spell out the name “Shocker.” Figuring Shocker is cutting underground cables, Spidey heads for the sewer. There, Spidey attacks, but the villain’s vibro-shockers collapse the tunnel on him, pinning him under the rubble, with the water rapidly rising.
The unseen figure Spidey senses at the Incinerating plant is Harry Osborn, hypnotized by Dr. Bart Hamilton as revealed in ASM #180, ’78. Spider-Clone’s survival shown in PPSSM #217, ’94.
