Freeing himself of debris, Spider-Man rides the current to a river-feeding drainpipe, then hurries back to Jameson’s as Peter, only to find the party over. In an alley, a derelict is haunted by someone who sends him fleeing. The next day at the ESU cafeteria, Mary Jane gives Peter the cold shoulder. He sits with Harry and Flash, learning Harry has agreed to become Flash’s new roommate. Shocker demands one million dollars from the city, threatening a city-wide blackout but the Mayor refuses payment. Checking city power plants, Spider-Man finds the Shocker, but the arriving police assume they’re working together. As soon as Spider-Man subdues the police, Shocker fl ings him toward a dynamo. Saving himself, Spidey webs Shocker’s gauntlets in the on position, causing him to ricochet around the room, knocking himself unconscious.
