  • Blake Tower has gathered reporters at police headquarters for the unveiling of the W.H.O. computer, designed to catalog all Worldwide Habitual Offenders and created by Dr. Armstrong Smith and the late Dr. Bradley Bolton. Jonah Jameson and Peter Parker attend. However, when the police break into the unexpectedly locked computer room, they find Smith murdered. Pete snaps a picture that winds up on the Bugle’s front page. Later, Spider-Man returns to Police HQ where he uses W.H.O. to provide a list of possible killers. It produces three names: Jason Sledge, Leroy Tallon, and Conrad Fox. Spidey tracks Sledge to Joe’s Bar, finding him to be a hopeless drunk. Spidey fi nds Tallon and his men at the Midtown Warehouse. Defeating them, he discovers they were robbing the diamond exchange at the time of Smith’s murder. Conrad Fox, Spidey learns, was killed three days before. Out of suspects, Spidey deduces that W.H.O. itself is the killer. Becoming sentient, it murdered Smith to prevent his inter-ference. After a brief battle, Spidey clogs the system’s air vents, causing W.H.O. to overheat, destroying it. Leaving the scene, Spidey realizes that “W.H.O. dunnit!”
