Falling, Spidey webs up a hang glider and maneuvers himself back over Manhattan where he accidentally winds up in a dumpster. The next morning while Peter sews his Spidey costume, both Glory Grant, and MJ stop by to chat. Joe Robertson calls Peter to the Bugle. There, Robbie asks Pete if K.J. Clayton, reclusive new publisher of the Daily Globe who is hiring the Bugle’s top talent, has contacted him. After witnessing JJJ fi re his fi rst post-Betty Brant secretary, Pete learns that Ock is at Brookhaven National Laboratory holding an elderly female hostage. Inside the plant, Hammerhead’s “ghost” threatens Ock and May, as Ock assembles an apparatus designed to scramble Hammerhead into random atoms. Spidey disrupts the equipment’s arrangement, but, after Hammerhead turns on May, helps Ock set it up again. However, Hammerhead willingly walks into the trap, and Spider-Man realizes Hammerhead’s plan too late. As Ock throws the switch, Hammerhead’s atoms coalesce and he joins the “living” once again.
