It’s the anniversary of Ben Parker’s death, and Spider-Man visits his grave. Aunt May arrives to deliver some fl owers while Spidey watches from a tree. When she departs, Spidey leaves his own offering: the microscope Ben gave him. Later, the caretaker walks by. It is his son Tommy’s birthday and he wishes he could buy the studious but bullied boy a present that really means something. He spots the microscope, believing it is just the thing, and takes it for his son.
