Spidey scoops up JJJ and heads out the window. Betty calls the gang and tells them to meet at ESU to be with Pete when he picks up his diploma but Pete doesn’t show since he is shackled to Jonah. Spidey goes to Connors’ lab for help, but he cannot remove the handcuff. A group of cops burst into his lab. The Fly breaks into an Egyptian delegate’s room to steal an invitation to the King Tut exhibit. At Connors’ lab, DA Tower and the bomb squad try unsuccessfully to disarm the shackle, so Spidey scoops up JJJ and leaves. The Fly attacks and throws them off a building, leaving them for dead. In an ally below, JJJ prepares to unmask the unconscious web-slinger. Later Spidey awakens at Connors’ lab, where Jonah carried him. Their time running out, Spidey returns them to Smythe’s lab where they discover Smythe dead. Spidey uses liquid oxygen to freeze the computer monitoring the bomb, which unlocks the manacle. With seconds left, Spidey tosses it out the window where it explodes. Bitterly, JJJ realizes that Spidey has a fortitude that he will never possess.
