Spider-Man comes to at the Kingpin’s feet. Kingpin has until midnight to kill Spider-Man. The two have a knock-down, drag out battle that rages across the Kingpin’s home. In Restwell Nursing Home, Ludwig Rineheart tells the Burglar that Peter won’t be bothering them anymore and asks what was in the Parker house. The Burglar is willing to tell, because he is planning to kill Rineheart, unaware Rinehart is planning to kill him. Meanwhile, the Kingpin has all but beaten Spidey when the clock strikes midnight, and Vanessa demands Kingpin come with her. He asks for one more moment to kill Spidey, but she refuses; professing his love for her, he turns and walks away from his defeated foe.
Kingpin frees himself from underwater wreckage after his fight with Spider-Man but contracts temporary amnesia, wandering the streets as a John Doe. Silvermane learns of this and hires a hit and run driver but Kingpin survives the accident. In the hospital, his memory slowly returns. He returns home where Vanessa gives him 24 hours to get out of crime. He has 6 hours left (ASM #164, ’77, and after).
