Spidey clears a fender-bender accident blocking the Fifty-Ninth Street Bridge, angering the drivers who still need a police report. At a Newark physics lab, diminutive scientist Hubert Fusser tests his sub-atomic particle accelerator, which erupts in raw energy. When Pinky, Hubert’s twin brother and staff janitor, saves him, they merge. At a Globe staff meeting, Barney introduces Rupert Dockery as the new circulation manager, later introducing Pete to his new photography back-up, Lance Bannon. Peter and Aunt May visit Anna Watson at the hospital. There, Spidey discovers Fusion, a glowing creature that escapes through a window, repels him with a blast, and draws power from surrounding traffic. At a subway station, Fusion separates into Hubert, who, power-hungry, wants to re-merge and Pinky, who isn’t interested but must to save Hubert who collapses onto the subway tracks. On the George Washington Bridge, Spidey fi nds Fusion heading towards the Indian Point nuclear power plant. Realizing that Fusion contains two confl icting personalities, Spidey convinces Pinky to separate, physically aiding him, and knocking both brothers out.
