  • Then: Ken Mack enjoys surfing until one day, another surfer accidentally slams his surfboard into Ken's face. When Ken awakens on the beach, he realizes half his face is missing and a metal skull is underneath. HAMMER takes him away and Norm Osborn offers to make him better. Later, Ken awakens to find his entire body is now red metal, Osborn having torn off all his outer flesh. Now: Hazmat tells Veil that if Hank Pym can't fix them no one can, and her plan was always to kill Osborn to make him pay for what he did to them. Mettle rips the bars off Osborn's cell and grabs him, but Osborn is only pleased with how they've turned out. Mettle says that Osborn has ruined their lives, but Osborn laughs it off and tells them he can "fix" them while Pym can't; Pym is shackled by professional ethics. He says that someday he can help the kids fix all their power problems and achieve their full potential, but not today since the prison's backup systems are about to kick in and eliminate any chance of escape. He says he's very proud of them and tells them to run along. They leave while Osborn stays in his cell. Meanwhile, Cage and Juggernaut make sure the villains are still in their cells while Wasp and Quicksilver look for the missing students. Wasp interrogates Osborn, who tauntingly tells him his students just tried to kill him. As Veil, Mettle and Hazmat return, they're stopped by a fight between inmate Powderkeg and Justice, Speedball and Tigra. Juggernaut surprises Mettle, who pummels Juggernaut without thinking. Unhurt, Juggernaut keeps his monstrous teammate Man-Thing from touching the frightened students. Meanwhile, other villains are breaking out of their cells, and Hazmat tells Grizzly to go back in his cell or she'll give him cancer. Wasp and the other instructors arrive and put the other villains back into their cells through force. Hank and Cage chastise the students who went after Osborn, but Hank is proud of them for deciding not to kill Osborn in the end; however, when Pym asks if they caused the blackout, Mettle lies, saying they had nothing to do with it but just took advantage of it. Mettle and Veil are both uneasy about this outcome as they depart, but Mettle feels he couldn't give up any chance of being normal again, even if that chance lies with Norman Osborn.
