Captain America summons Dr. Carlson to help Goliath. Carlson concludes that Goliath must stay at ten-foot height or risk death, and the despondent Goliath wanders off. In China, Dr. Yen brainwashes Black Widow and instructs her to destroy the Avengers. She travels to America, and when Hawkeye learns that she’s back, he goes to her mansion. There, Black Widow and her recruits, Swordsman and Power Man, subdue him. Witnessing Hawkeye’s defeat, Wasp flies away for help. Swordsman and Power Man ambush Cap at Avengers Mansion. Cap awakens in Black Widow’s dungeon and calls Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, who track his signal. The villains subdue the siblings, but Goliath and Wasp counterattack and free their teammates. A battle ensues, and the villains escape because of Hawkeye’s hesitation to fire an arrow at Black Widow. When Cap refuses to berate Hawkeye, the archer gains new respect for him.
Wasp adopts a red and dark blue costume that she wears through issue #47; she wears an accompanying dark blue hood only in this issue. An editor’s note states that this story occurs at the same time as Thor #128, ’66. Dr. Carlson’s 1st name revealed in OHMU HC1, ’08.
