Goliath tracks Wasp’s emergency signal to Living Laser’s basement headquarters. He frees Captain America and Hawkeye but arrives too late to save Wasp, whom Living Laser takes to his cave lab. Two Costa Verdean rebels hire Living Laser to help them overthrow their dictator. Living Laser conquers Costa Verde and the Avengers arrive to battle him, only to be shot down. They survive and attack the villain and the rebel forces but are captured. Goliath escapes his bonds by shrinking, thanks to a newfound cure for his inability to change sizes. He frees his teammates and knocks out Living Laser by causing his laser cannon to backfire. The Costa Verdean army reclaims control and the Avengers head home with the captive Laser. Bill Foster and Goliath decide to continue working together as research partners.
