  • Informant Nose Norton has disappeared. J. Jonah Jameson wants to tie Spidey to this, but Ned Leeds, Robbie, and Marla Madison believe Norton is hiding from the Brand Corporation. Reluctantly, JJJ offers $1,500 to any staffer who can deliver Norton. Peter rushes out nearly knocking over Amy Powell, who gets an idea of how to get back at Lance Bannon. Across town, Spidey invades a pool hall looking for Norton, and accidently discloses an undercover cop. In Biscayne Bay, Florida, “Smith” a Brand representative, hires Mr. “Valdez” to silence Norton, and sets off a manhunt spanning the East Coast. Valdez and Ben Urich both get tips that Norton is in a Staten Island Bar. Spidey follows Ben, joining him as Peter. The two reporters fi nd Norton, as does “Valdez,” who is actually Anton Rodriquez, the Tarantula. Spidey battles Tarantula. Norton, realizing Brand is setting him up as an industrial secrets thief, pulls a gun to protect himself and is shot by two Brand-hired private eyes. Tarantula escapes, a wounded Norton is hospitalized, and Peter hopes his camera took shots telling what really happened.

Spidey rescues Nose Norton from Cobra (ASM #231, ’82).

One of the PIs claims that Nose shot first, then immediately contradicts himself.
