Several Osborn plants have been raided. Osborn personnel director Donald Menken confers with Harry, Liz, and the police about it. A few blocks away, an out of costume Hobgoblin buys a newspaper, and returns to his new hideout. Across town, Spidey stands watch over a hospitalized Felicia Hardy, in critical condition following a battle with Dr. Octopus. Jean DeWolff enters and tells him to go home. Spidey stops to visit Madame Web, whose psychic powers have apparently not returned. At his apartment, Lance Bannon shoots nude photos of Amy Powell, who rushes off when Lance won’t commit to dinner. At home, Peter is awakened by a phone call from Amy who invites him to dinner. Realizing he’s been asleep for ten hours, a hurried Peter hangs up on her. As Spidey, he investigates former Goblin sites and finds Hobgoblin. They fight. Spidey gains the upper hand and prepares to unmask Hobgoblin but, believing the disgrace would be too great, Hobby ignites a city gas line and escapes. Badly beaten, the Hobgoblin vows to find Osborn’s secret that allowed him to stand up to Spider-Man.
