As Jonah and Robbie ponder whatever happened to the heroes, the Central Park gateway comes to life and Spider-Man, sporting a new black costume, emerges with Curt Connors in tow. The police, not recognizing Spidey, try to detain him but are distracted by the emergence of the Avengers. Taking advantage, Spidey stops to pick up what’s left of his personal effects after a week in a tree and brings Connors home. He returns home himself, where his costume responds to his thoughts and transforms into street clothes. Peter calls Aunt May, then calls the Black Cat. Finding her not home, Peter goes out just as Cat arrives in his apartment, looking for help after receiving “bad luck” powers from the Kingpin (PPSSM #87-89, ’84), but fl ees before Peter returns. Soon after, home again, Peter develops his Battleworld photos, but destroys them, knowing he could never sell them. Unable to sleep, he mentally summons his costume and goes web-slinging where he stops a mugger and meets the bickering Justin and Weezie who feel trapped in their rundown neighborhood. Spidey takes them web-slinging, giving them a bird’s-eye view of the city and all it has to offer. Justin is rattled but Weezie tells Spidey she had a good time. Spidey did too, realizing he’s glad to be home.
