The daring Cat Burglar commits several robberies, including one from J. J. Jonah Jameson’s personal safe. Jameson offers a $1,000 reward for the Cat Burglar’s capture. At the same time the Master Planner’s criminal gang commits robberies and Spider-Man is unable to halt their crime wave. While Foswell goes undercover as Patch, Peter encounters Liz on the street for the first time since graduation, but she behaves evasively and quickly departs. Peter meets up with Betty and learns that Ned has proposed marriage. Peter is outraged and storms away. Aunt May’s health continues to falter. Spider-Man finally catches up to the Cat Burglar and they engage in a rooftop battle. The Cat is finally apprehended by the police. Because of that, a relieved Jameson doesn’t have to pay the reward. Peter collects money from Jameson for photos he took but is dejected as he realizes he’s lost Betty for good.
