The Kingpin kills Dr. Zachar for keeping his wife Vanessa addled with medication and fi res Jack O’Lantern. Two Kingpin agents try to kill Ben Urich, Sgt. Tork, Matt Murdock and Sam Wilson. They fail, and the Kingpin orders them terminated, later giving the Arranger a list of his men he wants eliminated. Lance Bannon sees Flash Thompson at Betty’s apartment. Later, Betty finds Hobgoblin attacking Flash, recognizes Hobgoblin’s unmasked face and faints. Hobgoblin attacks Jack O’Lantern at his hideout. Alfredo ambushes Hobby but Jack rescues him, wanting to kill Hobgoblin himself. Spidey and the Black Cat meet with DD’s crew and hear the Kingpin is planning to kill his lieutenants at a midnight meeting. There, DD and crew break in and capture the Kingpin’s men. Spidey realizes everything was orchestrated with the Kingpin who gave up his men as payment for free passage for Vanessa out of the country, allowing him to take gang control but at a reduced capacity. Angry, he smashes Kingpin’s desk but restrains himself and departs. Daredevil is ashamed of the price they had to pay to end the gang war.
