A mask-wearing former actor turned handyman working at an Off-Broadway theater plots revenge on Madeline Naylor when he overhears that she will stop by. He captures Robbie who becomes Speedball, distracting him from his revenge. At the Broadway Supply, the actor tries again, striking Solly, the proprietor, on the head and shoving Robby down a garbage chute. Robby becomes Speedball and fights him. Dave, a policeman, enters and finds Solly. The actor attacks him with a spear and Dave shoots him dead. Solly recognizes him as a deluded talentless man who fancied himself an actor but Madeline has no recollection of him at all.
