As news broadcasts discuss the Avengers’ formation, Dr. Doom decides to deal with this new menace before they can become an obstacle to his plans. Two days later, a Major Bowman visits Avengers Mansion to warn them of the threat Doom poses. While bringing them up to date on Doom’s activities, word arrives that Doom’s flying ship has blasted free from military custody. The Avengers, with Major Bowman, intercept the flying ship, but upon breaking into the vessel they are separated and fall prey to several traps. Major Bowman reveals himself as Doom in disguise, while Ant-Man finds the real Major Bowman imprisoned aboard the ship. The two escape when Ant-Man uses a new formula changing him into Giant-Man. He frees the other heroes, who confront Doom. In a mad fit, Hulk rips off Doom’s head, revealing it to be a robot. The heroes flee with Major Bowman as the ship explodes and crashes into the ocean nearby. The Avengers celebrate their victory, while the real Doom studies his foes on a monitor screen from afar...
