The Rhino awakens again and escapes. At the Bugle, Betty displays her engagement ring to Foswell. At the Watson home, Peter is starry-eyed watching Mary Jane dance. Suddenly, the music on the television is interrupted by a bulletin about the Rhino. Mary Jane suggests they go see the Rhino for themselves and they travel aboard his motorcycle. During his rampage, the Rhino recalls how Russian scientists gave him his strength and a powerful hide. He turned on them to become a free agent. Peter and Mary Jane arrive at the scene and Peter slips away to become Spider-Man. Unable to best the Rhino, Spider-Man finds a portion of his hide and brings it to Curt Connors to analyze. The Rhino again attempts to capture John Jameson, but Spider-Man returns with a special webbing designed to dissolve the Rhino’s hide. It does, the Rhino is arrested, and Peter heads home, encountering Harry, Gwen and Flash along the way and learning that Flash has been drafted into the armed forces. Returning home, Peter is stunned to find that Aunt May ran out of medicine but didn’t tell him.
