Nefaria invites the Avengers to visit it, supposedly intending to open it to the public to raise money for charity. While Nefaria places the unsuspecting Avengers in stasis, he projects images of them to the Pentagon that declare that the Avengers are taking over the US government. As the US turns against the Avengers, Rick Jones and the Teen Brigade explore the Castle, finding Nefaria’s Control Room. Maggia agents capture the boys while Nefaria releases the unwitting Avengers, who depart the Castle to find themselves attacked by the US military. Escaping, the Avengers learn they have been branded as traitors. Meanwhile Rick Jones builds a tiny transmitter and radios for help; picking up Rick’s signal, Iron Man alerts the other Avengers as Count Nefaria closes the walls of his dungeon onto the Teen Brigade, but the Avengers storm the Castle and Cap rescues the teens. After signaling a nearby US destroyer, Cap is captured, but the Avengers free him and round up Nefaria’s Maggia thugs. Confronted by Thor, Nefaria admits his deeds, unaware a general from the destroyer has overheard his confession. With the Avengers cleared, Nefaria is arrested; however, the Wasp has been hit by a stray Maggia bullet during the fight.
