  • While the Avengers’ monthly meeting adjourns, Zemo plots their doom aided by his slaves, mercenary army and Masters of Evil. After writing Nick Fury a letter seeking counter-espionage work, Steve Rogers (Captain America) spots Enchantress and Executioner and tries to follow them, but Enchantress mystically halts Cap’s pursuit. Expecting the Masters to attack, the Avengers reassemble to prepare. Zemo’s mercenaries abduct Rick Jones in their aircraft despite opposition from the Avengers, while Enchantress and Executioner free their fellow Masters Black Knight and Melter from prison. The four Masters attack the Avengers’ new hunter plane, so Thor, Iron Man, Giant-Man and Wasp bail out to engage the villains in battle while Cap flies to Rick’s rescue. Cap soon attacks Zemo’s Amazon stronghold, where Rick is nearly killed by rocket fire when Zemo places Jones in the hunter plane’s line of fire. While four Avengers and four Masters battle each other to a standoff in Manhattan, Cap frees Rick from Zemo in the Amazon jungle, causing a rockslide that cuts Zemo off from his slaves and mercenaries. Cap then uses sunlight reflected from his shield to blind Zemo, who panics and fires his disintegrator pistol wildly, triggering a second rockslide that kills Zemo.

As of this story, Giant-Man is wearing a new costume introduced in TTA #65, ’65.
