The Avengers enjoy a leisurely afternoon at the mansion, making plans to attend baseball games and take a stroll through the city. Janet arrives at the mansion escorted by her new chauffeur. The chauffeur is dismissed, but, secretly Goliath’s old nemesis the Human Top, he returns to his hideout; having finished his reconnaissance, he dons a new outfit and renames himself Whirlwind. Meanwhile, with the other Avengers away, Goliath and the Wasp experiment on communicating with a red ant colony in Goliath’s lab. Whirlwind bursts in and uses Goliath’s Reducing Ray to shrink the two heroes, then places them inside the ant colony to be devoured. Evading the ants, Goliath and the Wasp spy Whirlwind placing a bomb inside the lab. Captain America and Quicksilver return from the washed out ball game, stumbling upon the villain, who flees after a short battle. Escaping the ant colony, Giant Man warns his teammates about the bomb, and with seconds to spare Quicksilver races it outside and hurls it into the East River, though he is dismayed to discover nearby bystanders blame him for the explosion. Whirlwind escapes, and Goliath and the Wasp are soon reverted back to normal size.
