Arriving at the Mansion with the mind-drained Loki, the Avengers are attacked by their own security system, which Panther deactivates. Later, Mantis senses mystic emanations from Rutland, Vermont, and realizing it is Halloween, the Avengers quickly depart in a borrowed SHIELD carrier jet. Tom Fagan welcomes them to Rutland and invites them to headline the parade. Vision, Wanda, Swordsman and Mantis elect to search for danger, leaving Thor, Iron Man, Cap & Panther to host the parade. After the parade, “Fagan” captures the four Avengers, then rips off his disguise, revealing he is the Collector. Meanwhile, Swordsman and Mantis discover the real Tom Fagan tied up in the woods, and summon Vision and Wanda. In Fagan’s old house, Collector awaits the remaining Avengers. Instead, partiers, led by Fagan, invade the house. To escape the noise, Collector retreats to the room where he is holding the captive Avengers, but finds that their comrades have freed his prisoners during the distraction. Collector releases an army of vampire bats on the town and tosses the stones controlling the bats into a shaft. Mantis knocks out Collector and descends into the shaft, returning with the recovered stones. When she strikes the stones together, the conjured bats vanish. In gratitude, Fagan offers the use of a local cabin, where Loki can live in peace.
