Spider-Man discovers one of Dr. Octopus’ gang’s hideouts. As he tears it apart, Ock taunts him on a viewscreen about his impending “crime of the century.” At a secret meeting, Colonel John Jameson, in charge of security for the nullifi er, maps the convoy route to take it to Tony Stark’s factory, all heard by Dr. Octopus’ spy. Peter visits an improving Aunt May but can’t convince her that Ock is responsible for the house’s damage. With his spy’s info, Octopus strikes the convoy, emerging from a manhole, and stealing the nullifi er, taking it to Stark’s factory himself; the one place the manhunt won’t look. Spider-Man, however, spotting the convoy damage and knowing Ock’s methods, heads for Stark’s factory as well. There, Ock uses the nullifi er to disable the guards’ telephone and guns, then the whole factory. Spider-Man arrives and fi ghts Ock until the villain shoots him with the nullifier. The ray interacts with his radioactive blood, giving him amnesia. Ock tells him he is an arch-criminal in Dr. Octopus’ service.
