Thor and Moondragon return to Avengers Mansion, still arguing about the latter’s contention that Thor is a superior being compared to his fellow Avengers. Jarvis reports the other Avengers are missing, so the quarreling duo departs to investigate. Meanwhile, the other Avengers have returned from the Squadron Supreme’s Earth and stormed the Brand Corporation, overpowering its security army. Consulting his counterpart on the Squadron’s Earth, fellow Serpent Crown servant Nelson Rockefeller, Jones learns that the Avengers have toppled the Serpent Cartel on that world. Determined to avoid this fate, Jones unleashes the Atlantean warrior Orka, his size and durability enhanced by Brand technology. Orka knocks out all the heroes with one punch, then stays behind to battle the newly arriving Thor and Moondragon while Jones prepares to execute the other intruders. When Moondragon apparently falls in battle, an angry Thor unleashes his oft-restrained full power against Orka, knocking the villain out, and forcing Thor to admit he is something more than human. Moondragon, who had feigned unconsciousness, gloats. Meanwhile, Jones and his security chief Buzz Baxter have bound the other heroes into a death trap, but Hellcat breaks free, beats her ex-husband Buzz into submission and forces him to free the others. After capturing Jones, the Avengers depart, pondering all the changes they have gone through of late.
The Squadron Supreme publicly denounce their world’s Cadre Cartel (p).
