The Thing, the Champions and many others watch televised news coverage of the Avengers’ roster reorganization. Inside Avengers Mansion, Captain America agrees to stay on, and Scarlet Witch demands to know Hawkeye’s status. Thor says Hawkeye and his new partner Two-Gun Kid will remain out west, but will aid the Avengers as needed. Wasp confirms she is rejoining the team, but is crushed when her husband Yellowjacket declines to rejoin, wanting more research time and wondering if the more informal Defenders group might be a better fit. Moondragon arrogantly refuses membership, dismissing the Avengers as inferiors but saying she will remain their ally. When Beast eagerly accepts membership, Wasp objects, hoping she can change her husband’s mind before the roster fills up, but other members overrule her. Hellcat likewise eagerly accepts membership, but then Moondragon — probably with a subtle boost from her mental powers — talks Hellcat into leaving with her for more training, saying she will teach the inexperienced Patsy about super-humanity while Hellcat teaches her about ordinary humanity. Yellowjacket agrees to rejoin after all, and is assured his schedule will be flexible. The team decides that Hawkeye, Hellcat, Moondragon, Thor and Yellowjacket will all serve as members on call. As Thor, Hellcat and Moondragon depart, the new Avengers roster goes outside to make its public debut, where a zombie-like Wonder Man suddenly bursts out of a packing crate and accuses Vision of stealing his mind.

While Two-Gun Kid is mentioned as willing to serve in the same standby capacity as Hawkeye, Hellcat, Moondragon, Thor and Yellowjacket, he is not explicitly identified as a reservist like the others; however, later stories depict the Two-Gun Kid as an Avengers member, probably based on this issue’s events. Based on subsequent evidence, later Avengers writer Kurt Busiek said the Kid probably joined as a reservist during or circa the events of Av #151, but Av #174, ’78 is usually listed as his point of membership since that is the first time he appears with the assembled team in an active capacity after joining. Most of this issue’s letters page is filled by a lengthy apology for the deadline problems that resulted in Av #150 being primarily a reprint, an explanation of how three writers co-wrote what became Av #151 in an effort to catch up, and various announcements, notably editor Gerry Conway replacing Steve Englehart as series writer. Pollock’s first name revealed in OHMU:DE #9, ’86.
