Adrian Toomes, alive and well and wearing his Vulture costume, looms over a rainy Manhattan. That same rain causes Spider-Man to fall hard on a highrise terrace, injuring his right arm. Toomes steals Blackie Drago’s wings from a museum. At ESU the next day, Peter thinks about how Gwen has apparently forgotten him, not knowing she’s as emotionally torn as he is. Toomes meanwhile breaks into prison, gives Blackie Drago the spare wings, and the two Vultures fl y to safety. At home, Harry reads Flash Thompson’s letter, revealing he’ll be shipped to Viet Nam. Norman Osborn visits but seeing Pete conjures Green Goblin memories. Peter worries that Norman’s memory is returning. Elsewhere, Toomes tells Blackie that his will to live strengthened after he realized Blackie had duped him (ASM #48). He overpowered a guard and escaped, hiding out until healthy. When Blackie declares himself boss, Toomes attacks, having freed Blackie only to humiliate him. At the Daily Bugle, Jameson drags Peter to the roof to photograph the Vultures battling. When they smash a terrace, endangering a child, Peter slips away, changes to Spider-Man, and rescues the child. Toomes defeats Blackie who vows to give up the wings. The Vulture turns to tackle Spider-Man whose injured arm has grown completely numb.
