Having fl own near to Olympia, Scarlet Witch watches Thing’s video fi le on Maelstrom, while Vision reconnoiters. When he returns she confronts him about his recent behavior, and he apologizes for letting his duties as Avengers leader come between them. In Olympia Maelstrom gloats over the captured Captain Marvel and Wasp about his plans to use the Eternals’ Uni-Mind for his own purposes, but Vision launches a surprise attack, and Scarlet Witch disrupts the Uni-Mind with a hex sphere, scattering the Eternals over the battlefi eld. Starfox enters the fray, as do the other Eternals and Avengers, but Maelstrom signals to his previously hidden minion, Deathurge, who kills Maelstrom with his staff. Captain Marvel attempts to stop Deathurge, who phases away from the battle. After the Eternals say goodbye to their Polar Eternal cousins, the Polar Eternals form their own Uni-Mind and depart into space, taking with them most of Earth’s Deviants, recently captured and merged into a block; once outside the atmosphere, the Uni-Mind launches the block away from Earth’s solar system. The Avengers return home, unaware Deathurge has returned to Maelstrom’s lair to await Maelstrom’s resurrection in a previously prepared clone body.
