Discovering Xandar has been decimated, Firelord learns from the planet’s dying queen that Nebula is the destroyer. After Nebula refuses an ultimatum to surrender, her fl eet of mercenary ships engage in battle with the Skrull armada and the Avengers. The vengeful Firelord joins the fray but a force-bolt slams him into a nearby moon. Transforming into an electromagnetic storm, Captain Marvel disables Nebula’s defense shields, allowing the Avengers and Zedrao to storm Sanctuary II. Starfox reaches Nebula and is shocked when she claims to be his brother Thanos’ granddaughter. The immensely powerful Beyonder suddenly appears, and, wishing to help the Avengers, removes Nebula and her henchmen from the Andromeda Galaxy, then disappears, leaving the heroes upset that Nebula is still free to pursue her aggression elsewhere.

As revealed in SMTU #2, ’96, Quasimodo merges his electronic essence with Sanctuary II’s programs while the Avengers storm the starship. This issue is a tie-in to the Secret Wars II mini-series.
