  • Wasp accompanies Hercules to the hospital, where Ant-Man arrives to offer help. A doctor tells the two that Hercules has died from his injuries, but the detection of a slowed heartbeat give the heroes hope. Baron Zemo tries to demoralize the captive Captain America by destroying his personal keepsakes. When he fails, he orders Mr. Hyde to savagely beat Jarvis before Cap’s eyes. Zemo sends Absorbing Man and Titania to the hospital to get the Wasp, but she and Ant-Man defeat the two villains. After hearing that Hercules will live, Wasp resolves to strike back at the Masters of Evil.

Mother Superior attacks Baron Zemo (Cap #299, ’84). Recovering from her attack, Zemo flees Skull-House.

Newhope Memorial Hospital is revealed as the hospital to which the injured Wasp was taken in Av #14, ’65. The Fantastic Four are noted as being on a secret mission, as shown in FF #298, ’87. A TV reporter makes a blunder by noting that Absorbing Man and Titania were at JFK Airport rather than La Guardia Airport, as seen in ASM #283, ’86. The shield destroyed by Mr. Hyde in this issue is revealed in BP #30, ’01, to be Captain America’s 2nd shield, not his original shield as noted here; it, along with all the destroyed contents of Cap’s footlocker, is restored by Baron Zemo in Tb #105, ’06.
