Michael O’Brien supervises a team of Stark Enterprises technicians as they install the Avengers’ new Assembly Table, then he dismisses them while he investigates a mysterious light in one of the corridors. This leads him to a hostile vision of his dead brother Kevin, the original Guardsman, who angrily berates Michael for failing to avenge his death, calls Michael a disappointment, and attacks him. No match for the Guardsman armor, Michael races to a weapons cache and grabs a heavy-duty laser rifle, but he can’t bring himself to shoot his brother. Michael lowers his weapon and the Guardsman blasts him.
