The monsters attack again, with Ngh spying on the battle nearby. When Ngh discovers the Avengers have a code of ethics, he hypnotizes his lackey Xa into seemingly befriending the Avengers. Xa and the Avengers drive back the monsters, but Xa is in turn injured near the battle’s end. With Lt. Ramskov’s powers now under control, Thor returns all of them back to Earth. Reporters and bystanders are now on the scene inside the tunnel. When Lt. Ramskov begins to speak to the reporters, one of the bystanders reveals himself as one of the Soviet saboteurs that Ramskov fought with at Chernobyl, and attempts to assassinate Ramskov, but instead kills Zhukova. The assassin kills himself before he can be taken prisoner. Their mission seemingly ended, Captain America joins Rage on a subway car to resolve their differences. As they travel back into Rage’s neighborhood, LD 50 tries to kill Rage with a rocket launcher, but Captain America deflects the missile. Back at the hospital, Xa recovers from her injuries and uses her newly restored powers to open a dimensional portal allowing Ngh and the others onto Earth.
As a child, Rage is chased by racist teenagers, escaping them by diving into the polluted Newton creek. While he lies in the creek, Fisk Biochem workers dump more chemicals into the water. Rage goes home and is nursed back to health by his Grandma Staples. The chemicals alter his body, causing him to grow into an oversized muscle man. His grandma talks him out of seeking revenge on the bullies.
