An injured Vision returns to Avengers HQ, reporting how the Kree captured Black Knight, Crystal, Hercules and Deathcry. Through her mind-link with the Knight, Sersi can feel him in terrible pain and sense his location. When the others refuse to listen to her, she flies off alone. Captain America, Black Widow, a newly rejoining Giant-Man and reluctant ally Magdalene fly Deathcry’s star-skimmer in pursuit while Vision coordinates the mission back at HQ. Sersi leads them to a South Pacific island where the Kree are torturing their captives while they prepare to detonate the Nega-Bomb. Galen Kor covertly communicates with his secret ally, the Collector, who has provided technology in exchange for promises of captured Avengers. The Collector is dissatisfied with the small number of Avengers caught so far, but Kor assures him there will be more. As the rescue party arrives, the Kree deploy robotic Sentries. Sersi wrecks one, and Giant-Man smashes the other. Apart from Talla Ron, Kor’s other followers are unaware of his secret deal with the Collector, and are increasingly anxious to execute the Avengers. Unable to allow this because of his bargain with the Collector, Kor compromises by giving them permission to execute the Avengers’ ally Deathcry. The Rass twins are about to comply when Hercules breaks loose and frees Deathcry, who joins him in attacking their captors as the rescue party bursts in. The two sides battle until the Nega-Bomb enters the final arming stage. No longer able to keep his deal with the Collector, Kor flees with his troops into space, leaving the Nega-Bomb behind to destroy Earth; however, Sersi largely neutralizes the bomb with remote guidance from Vision, and once the bomb finally detonates, it only destroys the island where the Kree had placed it. The Avengers, Deathcry and Magdalene escape. Galen Kor promises the Collector he will fulfill their bargain eventually, but an impatient Collector ends their alliance, saying he will obtain the Avengers without the Kree’s help.
