  • Aware of Sersi’s madness, her fellow Eternals Sprite and Thena rescue the Avengers from the water after Sersi’s destruction of the Brooklyn Bridge. Sprite notes how Sersi’s mind deteriorated far faster than normal, as if forced, a theory backed up by new arrivals Quicksilver, Jarvis and Thunderstrike. Jarvis tells the others of Sersi’s nightmares, in which a man who sounds like Proctor struck down innocent men of Sersi’s acquaintance. Meanwhile, Proctor and his Gatherers have imprisoned Sersi in their base, where Proctor recounts how his world’s Sersi betrayed him. Proctor admits the current Sersi is not her, but he says this reality is the template for all other realities, so this Sersi is responsible for the crimes of her counterparts. Furthermore, Proctor says, he has studied Sersi in every timeline and she is always evil. Proctor admits he has been mentally manipulating the current Sersi through the Gann Josin mental link his original Sersi forged with him, causing Sersi’s instability and suppressing her memories of the fact that it was Proctor who was attacking and killing various men of Sersi’s acquaintance, partly out of jealousy, partly to save them from loving Sersi and partly to frame Sersi for these crimes. Sersi breaks free as Proctor mind-probes her and she tries to escape, but she is shocked to a halt when she flies into a room where Proctor keeps hundreds of Sersi corpses, trophies of his victories in other realities. Rik shoots her down and Proctor secures her, noting bitterly how she loves her Black Knight more than Sersi-374 ever loved him. Elsewhere, Sprite analyzes petrified detectives Delgado and MacNamara, determines Sersi did not transform them, and restores them to normal, after which they identify Proctor as the one who attacked them. Meanwhile, Ute urges the Avengers to stop Proctor, Quicksilver privately asks the Black Knight to abandon his romance with Crystal so that Quicksilver and Crystal can rebuild their marriage, and the Knight is horrified when computer analysis proves that Proctor is an alternate-reality version of the Black Knight himself.

Proctor leads Earth-374’s Avengers, recruiting and romancing that reality’s Sersi, who forms the Gann Josin mind-meld with him but eventually abandons him.
