After witnessing Living Laser’s teleportation out of prison, Iron Man convenes an Avengers meeting. Informed by Nick Fury that villains are attacking foreign lands, Cap splits the Avengers up. Goliath, Wasp and Iron Man prevent Power Man and Swordsman from destroying a South American city with a giant scimitar. When Hercules and Scarlet Witch confront Enchantress and Executioner in Asia, the Executioner transports the combatants to the Citadel of Silence to battle, but the heroes win. Hawkeye and Thor defeat Living Laser and Ultimo in Africa. Captain America and Quicksilver trace electronic emanations from the battle sites to Mandarin’s space station. The Avengers arrive there and learn that Mandarin sent his minions to retrieve diamonds to fuel a weapon designed to blanket the world with hate-rays. Mandarin uses the hate-ray to set the Avengers against one another, but Wasp defeats him. A last desperate act by the Mandarin causes an explosion that tears a hole in the space station and sucks him into space. The Avengers destroy the space station and return to Earth.
