  • Following the battle against Super-Nova, Captain America offers Quasar trial membership with the Avengers. Quasar accepts Cap’s invitation to Avengers Island later that night, but begins having misgivings about juggling Avengers membership with his duties as protector of the universe. Quasar fi lls Cap in on his recent activities and his concerns, but Cap persuades him that membership could actually benefit his protector role. Quasar agrees and undergoes a battery of applications and examinations, then meets Cap on the beach to demonstrate his powers. At Cap’s request, Quasar attempts to lift the entire island, but an arriving Firelord mistakes Quasar’s intentions and attacks him. Cap separates the two with a shield throw and Firelord apologizes after Cap explains the situation. Cap then approves Quasar’s membership and gives him a team ID card.

The Serpent Crown enslaves Quasar (MTU Ann #5, ’82). Quasar hands Myron Wilburn his resignation (1). Quasar travels to Uranus to investigate the quantum bands’ origins and meets Eon (Q #2, ’89 fb).

Story takes place immediately after Av #303, ’89, and is Dr. Keith Kincaid’s fi rst chronological appearance as the Avengers’ doctor. Quasar’s flight speed is clocked to be able to reach Earth’s moon in fi ve minutes, and his energy constructs prove suffi cient to lift Avengers Island a few inches.
