Galen Kor informs the Supreme Intelligence of their plan to use their own life essences to power the Omni-Wave Projector and mutate humanity into neo-Kree. At Avengers Mansion, the Avengers’ disciplinary hearing regarding Warbird’s alcoholism and misconduct is cut short by a distress call from the moon. Captain America asks Quicksilver for aid and orders the Vision to contact Justice and Firestar. When Cap refuses Warbird’s demand to accompany them, she resigns and leaves. The team is attacked by the Legion upon arrival on the moon, who soon dissolve into energy as part of the Omni-Wave process. Warbird tries flying to the moon to show up the Avengers, but her decreased powers cause her to plummet earthward. Thor creates a gateway through which to send the Projector, but Kor blindsides him and causes the portal to slowly shrink. Firestar reluctantly uses the full strength of her powers to magnify the portal, and Justice telekinetically pushes it through. As SHIELD agents take charge of the site, Cap confronts the Intelligence about the origin of the distress call, but the Intelligence feigns ignorance. At a New York bar, Carol Danvers sullenly nurses a drink while watching news reports of the Avengers’ victory.
Iron Man sees Warbird inspecting the mansion’s bar (Av #4, ’98). Hyperion punches Warbird (Av #5, ’98). Warbird attacks Tony Stark at PowerSource, Inc (IM #7, ’98). Warbird battles the Legion at Cape Canaveral and is captured (Cap #8, ’98). Galen Kor scans Warbird’s genetic makeup, and Lockjaw is carelessly injured by Warbird during her rescue (Qsilv #10, ’98).
Conclusion of the 4-part “Live Kree or Die” crossover, continuing from Qsilv #10, ’98. Warbird’s alcoholism is further explored in Iron Man’s solo series. Lunatic Legion member Ciry was seen transporting back to the moon from Cape Canaveral in Cap #8, ’98. Since NW #61, ’95 Firestar has feared using her powers at full strength will sterilize her. Firestar and Justice join the Avengers full-time next issue and effectively become regular feature characters beginning with this issue.
