Justice performs with renewed confidence during an Avengers training exercise. Observing a crowd that has gathered outside to protest the team’s roster’s lack of minorities, the Avengers discuss racial quotas for membership and wonder if they are targets of a smear campaign. Meanwhile, Scarlet Witch and Wonder Man check on the troubled Vision, concerned their romance has upset him. Vision lashes out at Wonder Man and flies away to be alone, but when Simon pursues him and presses the issue, Vision admits he feels he is an inferior copy of Wonder Man with little personality to claim as his own. Simon tells Vision he envies the android because Vision doesn’t have to live with Wonder Man’s mistakes and shame. Surprised by this revelation, Vision departs, and the Avengers are uncertain if he will return. In the Himalayas, the villainous Decay, Conquest and Stonecutter recruit Carnivore in a quest to reunite the Exemplars, their team of magical beings.
