Revived by the fall but out of web fl uid, Spidey grabs Ock’s tentacles and swings through a window. He hides in an air vent, the tentacles following and almost trapping him. As Ock retracts them, Spidey plants a spider-tracer. After changing to Peter, he encounters Captain Stacy and collapses in his arms from his battle injuries. He awakens in the Stacy home with Gwen sitting over him. Stacy apparently accepts the excuse that Peter is still recovering from the fl u. Returning home, Peter concocts a chemical fl uid that he hopes will help against Ock, fi lling his web-shooter with it. After 82 ½ minutes of searching, Spider-Man senses his spider-tracer but it has been used in a trap by Ock who planted it in an empty room and attacks from the roof. Hauling Spidey up, he pins him against a chimney and pummels him with his arms. Breaking free, Spidey shoots each tentacle with his fl uid. The chemical jams Ock’s brainwaves to the arms, which fl ail wildly. A crowd forms below. Captain Stacy arrives to disperse them but the out-of-control tentacles smash the chimney, sending debris toward a child below. Stacy shoves the child away, saving him, but is buried in the debris himself. Spider-Man clears the wreckage and tries to take Stacy to a doctor as the crowd accuses him of murder. Dying, Stacy stops him on the roof, calls him Peter, and tells him to take care of Gwen. Realizing Stacy knew his identity and never revealed it, Spidey cradles his body in his arms and vows to love Gwen forever but worries what she’ll do if she learns her father died because of him.
