The Avengers watch while Hank Pym and a team of doctors and nurses operate on young Tony, rebuilding his heart and connecting him to his new chestplate. While he recovers, Tony is visited by Jarvis, Happy and Pepper, the latter two reminiscing about how they met the elder Stark. Jarvis remembers how the elder Tony became Iron Man, and how it cost Stark his fiancée Joanna. Meanwhile, Captain America and Hawkeye talk about Iron Man’s history while looking at photos. Young Tony is visited by Masque, who disguises herself as past loves of the elder Stark while she lectures the unconscious youth on relationships. Marianne Rodgers telepathically enters young Tony’s mind to see if he’ll turn evil as his older counterpart did. Via a hologram, Morgan Stark lectures the sleeping young Tony on Iron Man’s history of adversaries, warning the youth of Morgan’s desire for vengeance. Later, young Tony awakens to ask Jarvis what he missed while he was sleeping.
