Peter fl ies back to New York without seeing Gwen. He takes his pictures of Spider-Man to Joe Robertson, and realizes he was so worried about Gwen connecting him with Spidey that he forgot about Robbie. At ESU, Harry tells him Mary Jane is starring in an off-Broadway musical and pushes Peter to accept his father’s ongoing job offer. Peter worries that Osborn’s Goblin persona could return but agrees. Osborn gives him part-time work and insists he come to MJ’s play. Following after police sirens, Spidey finds a young man so stoned on psychedelics he leaps off a building, trying to walk on air. Spidey rescues him, handing him to the police who save him with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Outside the Village Theatre, formerly an Osborn-owned building, MJ makes Harry jealous by doting on Pete. Mary Jane is a hit onstage, however. At intermission, Osborn turns pale at the sight of a door, never regaining his calm. After the show, MJ wants Peter to join her celebration with Harry but Peter trails Osborn instead as Spider-Man, watching as Osborn opens the door with a key. By the time Spider-Man can enter, it’s too late. The Green Goblin stands on his glider and, spying Spidey, declares, “Parker! You dare come here? Well, I can promise you this.. you’ll never leave alive!”
