  • Spider-Man tries to stop the Goblin but falls victim to a pumpkin-packaged hallucinogenic gas. The fight continues over the city as the Goblin pummels Spidey with boomerangs, stun-pumpkins, and finger sparks. Wary of harming Norman Osborn, Spidey holds back and the Goblin escapes. Peter returns home where a shaky Harry accuses him of trying to steal MJ. Harry pops some pills and collapses on his bed. The next day at ESU, Mary Jane comes on to Peter again. A drug pusher pulls Harry aside, sympathizes with him for MJ’s snub and sells him a bottle of pills. Later, Spider-Man checks Osborn’s offi ce but it is empty. Osborn’s secretary tells Peter he hasn’t been in all day. At school, a pepped-up Harry is rejected by MJ who tells him she’s nobody’s girl. Back home, Harry kicks Peter out, changes his mind, sinks into despair, and takes more pills. After an all-nighter looking for the Goblin, Peter comes home to find Harry sick from a drug overdose. Before he can call a doctor, the Goblin appears outside.

    No Comics Code approval or seal due to drug theme. Although Harry’s constant pill-popping imply an amphetamine or barbiturate addiction, ASM #121-122, ’73 state he was taking LSD.
