  • The Lizard and Morbius fight while Spidey recuperates, with Morbius biting the Lizard’s neck. Spidey intervenes, tagging Morbius with a spider-tracer as he escapes. The Lizard recovers, possessing Connors’ mind and personality, then becoming a scaly human before returning to his Lizard form. Noting that Morbius’ bite seemed to temporarily erase Curt’s regrown arm, the duo work together to duplicate it, hoping it will cure Spidey’s multiple-armed problem. They discover that the bite left behind an enzyme and set out to fi nd the vampire as Morbius sleeps in an abandoned building, dreaming of how he, Nobel Prize-winning hematologist Michael Morbius was dying of a rare blood disease. Seeking secrecy, Morbius chartered a yacht, bringing his assistant Nikos and fiancée Martine, and sought a cure using fl uid from bats and an electro-shock device. Instead, the treatment transformed him into a living vampire. Killing Nikos in his blood lust, he abandoned ship to protect Martine. Rescued by another ship, he killed all aboard. Awakening, he kills a vagrant as Spidey swings over Manhattan with the Lizard on his back. The Lizard’s personality emerges and he lets go of Spidey, who manages to save him with a web line; his mind returning to Curt’s again. Meanwhile, Gwen calls Aunt May to ask about the trip Peter mentioned but May knows nothing about it, reducing Gwen to tears. At the Bugle, Joe Robertson and J. Jonah Jameson worry about falling circulation and the possible bankruptcy of the paper. Spidey and the Lizard find Morbius, subdue him and extract the enzyme. The Lizard prepares a serum from it, injects himself and instantly becomes Connors. However before Spidey is injected, Morbius awakens, grabs the vial, and glides over the water. Spidey snags Morbius with a web line but is pulled aloft. The extra weight drags Morbius down, slamming Spidey into a bridge. He lands on a garbage scow as Morbius plummets into the water. Spidey misses Morbius with a web-line but snags the vial. Morbius is whisked out to sea, apparently drowned. Connors injects Spidey with the serum. His extra arms instantly disappear.

Peter takes potion, gaining four extra arms, Morbius attacks from ASM #100-101, ’71. Morbius’ origin.

This is a 48-page issue. Morbius misspelled Moribus on cover.
