  • At a conference at the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson tells his staff about the paper’s money problems when Dick Cavett comes on TV, interviewing Calkin, a scientist who tells about a monster that attacked his Antarctic team. JJJ realizes that the monster came out of the Savage Land and decides to use it to boost circulation. Jonah has Joe Robertson call Peter Parker to take pictures for his article. Robbie balks at first, but Jameson insists. The next day Pete and Gwen show up at the Bugle. Realizing that having a beautiful girl in the photos can’t hurt, Jameson convinces Gwen to come along. Soon after they and Calkin are at the base camp, and off to the tropical Savage Land. There, Peter takes photos of Gwen in her bikini as Jonah and Calkin fi nd a stone idol with a built-in gong, which Jameson strikes summoning a tribe of swamp men. Soon after, the giant Gog arrives putting the tribe to fl ight and snatching Gwen in his massive hand. Peter tries to subdue him but Gog swats him far into the woods. Gog brings Gwen to Kraven, who informs her that he is carving out a kingdom and she will be his queen. Calkin and Jameson chase Gog and encounter Ka-Zar and Zabu even as Pete becomes Spidey and goes after Gwen, only to run afoul of a giant snake. Leaping to avoid it, Spidey lands in a patch of quicksand, and starts to sink.
