After dropping the Gibbon off at the hospital, Peter frets over Aunt May’s disappearance, even ignoring two inter-gang shakedowns he witnesses because he feels his time would be better spent hunting for her. He goes to the Bugle, where Jonah has already put out headlines proclaiming Spidey a coward for seemingly fleeing the shakedowns, and the publisher berates Parker for not providing photos since he was added to the payroll. Leaving the building Peter breaks up a fi ght between two boys arguing over whether Spider-Man is a coward, and runs into MJ and Anna Watson. Anna expresses concern that May’s departure might not have been voluntary, and thinking of the recent rise in crime he has observed, Peter wonders if someone has learned his identity and targeted May to get to him. Searching the city as Spider-Man both for information and photos to placate JJJ, he spots a warehouse robbery and intervenes, but they prove to be wearing strength-enhancing harnesses, and stun him long enough to escape. As he recovers, his spider-sense goes off, and he turns to see Dr. Octopus bearing down on him!
